Time: asphalt shingles normally last 10-12 years. If your current roof has reached this point or toward the end of the warranty, it is probably time to consider replacing your roof.

Metal roofing is the preferred roofing choice in hail-prone areas. Hail causes conventional roofing materials to break, split and cause tear-off damage. Hail will not penetrate a metal roof.
Yes. When material is received, bundled panels should be inspected for moisture. If there is moisture, the panels should be separated and dried. Reasonable care should be taken when handling painted surfaces during installation in order to protect the finish. Although the painted finish is tough and provides impact resistance, panels should be lifted off of a bundle – not dragged off. Dragging panels across the surface of another panel will mar the finish. Cut-resistant gloves and protective sleeves should be worn when handling metal panels and trim accessories. Use extreme caution when walking, sitting, standing or kneeling on metal roofing to avoid falls. Metal roofing panels may have a light coating of oil on them to help aid in the manufacturing process and protect from moisture prior to installation. Metal roofing panels are slippery when wet.
